Red Carpet Favorites: The Golden Globes

The Golden Globes are my second favorite fashion night of the year {the first being of course the Oscars}. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning just waiting to see what comes out of each limo. The hairstyles, the accessories, the dresses, and the colors! So many trends for the coming seasons spring from this red carpet. And the Globes are special in the fact that it’s more laid back in atmosphere and the stars seem to let loose a little more in their styles. So let’s dig in to my fav’s!

Lea Michelle get’s my #1 pick. I think I literally squealed when I saw this whole outfit. As you know, I’m a sucker for a one shoulder and I also can’t get enough of this color. With the cold weather outside, this gorgeous, Oscar de la Renta gown in a summer color splash was like a mini vay-cay.

I’m usually not a huge Angelina fan. Especially since she typically always wears black. I was super surprised to see her in, next to pinks, what seemed to be one of the hottest colors of the night. She rocked this emerald green, Atelier Versace gown. I especially loved the all over sequins and the super strong shoulders.

Another strong shoulder contender for best dressed in my opinion, Anne Hathaway. This gorgeous, Armani Prive gown that’s embroidered with Swarovski crystals. And again, a color in the peachy pink family steals the Globes show.

Claire Danes is always classy and I love the surprise that was her in this bright Calvin Klein Collection dress. I’m especially in love with this halter neckline.

There is something so different about Leighton Meester in this Burberry gown that I just love. It’s so unexpectedly glamorous. I love the long sleeve girly-ness paired with the stunning shoe.

I will close my red carpets favorites list with Dianna Agron. This entire ensamble is beyond. The J. Mendel dress is too perfect for her and the combination of accessories, hair, and just overall ambiance of the outfit, steals the show.

A Rainy Day Shopping Trip

Earlier this week it was incredibly stormy outside. Stormy to the point where you could have taken a row boat to work instead of your car. When I woke up Monday to the sounds of thunder, I stood in my closet looking at my shoe collection, and as embarrassingly large as it is, there was not an adequate rain shoe! Having grown up in Hurricane filled Florida, you’d think I’d have mastered rain gear. Most of the time in situations like that I’d just turn to the ever popular flip flop, but when it is in the 20’s outside like it was mornings this week, flip flops are NOT an option.

So I started doing a little research as a good rain boot has been put on the ‘must buy’ list. Let me clarify, if I had nearly 200 dollars to drop on shoes, I can promise it wouldn’t be on rain boots….but if I did, these Burberry ones are to die for.

These are so classic and I love the shine they have. All I’d need is a yellow rain coat, umbrella, and a good dance partner.

And these baby pink ones…well, I’m sure that even if there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, I’d find a way to incorporate them into an outfit.

So bring on the rainy days! Well, once I make a shoe decision….
